Some people seek fame. Some people seek fortune. Some people seek IRON....or maybe as in my case half iron.
Last night Camo-Man and I signed up for the Indy Mini-Marathon which is always held the first weekend in May. As I was rolling dates, races, and training possibilities through my head, it suddenly occurred to me that I will have some extra time on my hands beginning December 20th. After that date, I will actually have free time during the day to train for races...for a half-marathon in May & a 70.3 Ironman in July! Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
Several people from my local triathlon club are participating in the FULL Ironman in Louisville in August. I, however, cannot make that kind of commitment. I'm a person who likes to know that I will accomplish my goals. So I plan on doing a half IM this year and possibly, maybe, a full IM in 2013.
So...on the race docket for 2012 so far....
Indy Mini-Marathon: May 4, 2012
Tremont Triathlon: June 23, 2012
Ironman 70.3 Muncie: July 7, 2012
Looks to be a good year!
Happy training!
A healthy, active lifestyle means putting yourself first every single day.

Dear Santa.....
Dear Santa,
I have been a very good girl this year. I have been working very hard this year at being a healthy & happy mommy. I try to cook edible meals (no more purple chicken). I exercise 5-6 days a week.
All I want for Christmas is......
Cute Running Apparel from RunningSkirt.com
Aero Bars for my Dolce
A Wet Suit (Ugh the thought of me in a wet suit...yuk)
Women's Heart Rate Monitor
My Garmin Forerunner takes my heart rate, but won't convert that to calories burned unless I have the foot pod. Grrr. So I really need another toy to do that? Apparently!

I recently purchased the items below thanks to birthday gifts and I love them all!

Oh heck, I want other things, too, but a girl can't be greedy. Right?
Purple Chicken
Now that I am going to have more time to plan family meals I need to start getting my list of go to recipes together again. I always think of my friend, Elizabeth, when it comes to meal planning. She has her list of recipes which her family enjoys and makes them often.
A year or two ago I asked my family what recipes I make that they like. Camo-man replied, "Frozen Pizza." Ahhh, the love and support of your life partner! (Grrrr)
Tonight at dinner, Hollywood reminded me of the Purple Chicken recipe. I tend to find new recipes, give them a try, have my 2 picky eaters tell me they don't like them and then never make them again. Do you see a problem here? Yes, I know. I have food issues.
Back to the story....I made a chicken dish which turned out purple. It called for grape jelly and I didn't think about the effect the color would have, but I do have to agree with my family. It was definitely not visually appealing. Yes, it looked like the picture to the left...but not quite.
Purple chicken.
That is my goal.
To NOT make purple chicken ever again.

When God whispers
When God whispers in your ear, sometimes one needs a hearing aid. Sometimes it's like a gale force wind and you say, "Yes, Lord, I get it."
A lot of times I find I listen to God the most when my life is in chaos and that's when I realize he is trying to hit me upside the head with HIS message, not mine.
After a crazy weekend, God helped me decide to resign my job at the park district as Director of Programs and to focus on teaching group fitness classes and spreading the good news about health, fitness & nutrition.
It's been a tough year for me. Trying to balance my responsibilities as a wife and mother as well as basically two jobs. While I've enjoyed them both, I know that I would rather spend my time teaching group fitness helping others reach their goals. My job at the park district requires someone who has more time available to take care of evening and weekend programs because for me with 3 daughters I really don't have the time. After weighing the pros & cons and the possible consequences, I, with 100% of my my dear husband's support, finally did it. I decided to eliminate some of my stress by giving up a position that I enjoyed so I can do the things that make me truly happy.
So, God has spoken to me...in little whispers over the past year. Finally, I respond, "Yes, LORD, I hear you!"
